I spent years inside a high-volume real estate operation. I was good at it — I helped scale a team from 177 closings a year to over 400, so I know exactly how the machine works.
And that's the problem. I know exactly how the machine works.
I watched too many people get treated like a number in a pipeline. Rushed. Processed. Pushed toward Thursday's showing because somebody needed the month to close.
At some point I realized something uncomfortable: I wanted more for my clients than the system was built to give them. I wanted more for them, honestly, than some of them wanted for themselves.
Not to do less. To do it right.

I moved to Kansas City from Iowa fifteen years ago.
No connections. No roadmap. No idea which neighborhood was which.
Nobody handed me a guide, so I became one the hard way — driving every street, learning which blocks shift and why, figuring out how the different areas connect and where the barbecue is that the tourists never find.
Somewhere along the way, Kansas City stopped being the place I moved to and became the place I'm from. I showed up a bandwagon fan and the city made me a believer. It'll do that to you.
A few things about me, since you're trusting me with a big decision:
I've been married for 23 years. We've got a daughter in high school and a dog named Cy who runs the house.
I've been a DJ for more than 25 years, which is just a fancy way of saying I've spent my whole life reading rooms — learning what people need before they say it. Turns out that's most of this job.
I run an outdoor movie business, which is hilarious because I don't actually like movies. I love what they create — people in lawn chairs, kids on blankets, a neighborhood that didn't know each other an hour ago. It was never about the movie. It's never about the movie.
And for eight years I've shown up every week for one kid through Big Brothers Big Sisters. That one taught me more about showing up than anything else I've done.
I'll also tell you I hate exercise. Just being honest. Radical honesty starts at home.
